NEW YORK, August 7. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump was angered when he learned of media reports on the depletion of US ammunition stocks, CNN reported.
According to the TV channel’s sources, the US leader believes that the appearance of such reports in the media creates the impression of Washington’s weakness at a time when he is threatening Iran with new strikes. CNN noted that Trump is aware of potential problems on ammunition reserves. His anger stemmed from the fact that the leak occurred at what he considers a pivotal moment in the conflict with Tehran.
Previously, The Washington Post reported, citing sources in the US administration, that the US president believes Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth misled him about depleted weapons stockpiles during the war with Iran. Trump later stated that those responsible for leaking information to the press are being sought and could face prison terms. The US leader also denied The Washington Post’s report about his dissatisfaction with Hegseth.
