Gemini on Wear OS is getting a new overlay design that takes after Neural Expressive on Android phones to boost cross-device consistency.

Previously, activating Gemini on Wear OS would open the full app. This new overlay appears over your current watch face, similar to Android phones and tablets.

It features Gemini’s Neural Expressive background, as well as the spark icon and greeting. Screenshots on the Play Store show a transcript of your prompt and action confirmations. A small tweak moves the system microphone privacy indicator from the bottom of your screen to the top.

The full Gemini app on Wear OS also features the visual updates, thus unifying the assistant across all platforms. Google does not appear to have made any changes to Gemini responses. This redesign was first previewed in May and on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9. Gemini Intelligence on Wear OS lets you use task automation on upcoming watches.

Version 1.36 of Google Gemini on Wear OS has widely rolled out via the Play Store, but this new look has a server-side component that’s not yet widely available.
