The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, in the 2027 general elections, Omoyele Sowore, says the Department of State Services, DSS, is instituted to serve the public and not private individuals or organizations.

Sowore said this on Wednesday while fielding questions from reporters after court proceedings.

Recall that Justice Mohammed Garuba Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday rejected Sowore’s bid to tender uncertified documents in his trial for allegedly making defamatory statements against President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking after the court proceedings, Sowore said, “One thing was also established today in court. DSS is employed by Nigerian people. It is not the private security guard organization of anybody.

“The DSS is not the main guard of the president, but they don’t get that memory yet. It’s our duty in what we do to let that sink in for all these guys who think that there’s no tomorrow.

“We will remind them that our today is more important than the tomorrow they want to hijack. We will free ourselves today, and we will free ourselves for tomorrow and for the future.”
