The 10th prosecution witness in the case relating to the death of journalist K.M. Basheer testified on Friday (August 7, 2026) that he knew that IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman, the accused in the case, was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. Basheer’s colleague S. Sreejith, the witness, also identified during the trial the clothes that Basheer was wearing at the time of the accident.

The witness also stated that he had given this information to the investigating officer. He testified that Basheer’s motorbike was pinned against the wall of the Public Office due to the impact of the collision at the accident site and that the Vento car with number KL 01 BM 360 that caused the accident was at the scene of the incident.
