District Collector S. Kandasamy inspected a three-storey building donated to the Erode district branch of the Indian Red Cross Society here recently.

The property, comprising a 3,288-sq.-ft. plot and a three-storey building at Door No. 95 on A.P. Thangavel Chettiar Road in Park Road, was donated by Erode resident Marimuthu Veerasamy Pillai. The gift deed was registered at the Erode Joint Sub-Registrar’s Office on June 10, 2025.

According to the district administration, the donor has stipulated that the property should be used exclusively for the humanitarian activities of the Indian Red Cross Society.

During the inspection, Mr. Kandasamy assessed the condition of the building and held discussions with officials on the works required to make it operational for the organisation’s humanitarian services. He also reviewed the scope for utilising the premises for public welfare activities undertaken by the district branch of the Indian Red Cross Society.

Ramesh Krishnan, Personal Assistant (Development) to the District Collector, and officials of the departments concerned accompanied Mr. Kandasamy during the inspection.
