YSR Congress Party president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday assured part-time lecturers, unaided lecturers and non-teaching employees working in aided junior colleges across Andhra Pradesh that his party would continue to support their efforts to secure better service conditions and long-pending benefits.

A delegation of the Andhra Pradesh Aided Junior Colleges Part-Time Lecturers’ Association met Mr. Jagan at the Gannavaram Airport and submitted a memorandum outlining a range of concerns related to pay, job security and regularisation.

Association president Ariga Joshi Rao appealed to the YSRCP leader to take up the matter with the State government.

The representatives said many members of the teaching and non-teaching staff had been serving in aided institutions for periods ranging from 15 to 25 years but continued to face uncertainty owing to inadequate salaries and the absence of employment security and welfare measures.

They urged the government to give preference to experienced lecturers while filling contract posts under the 10+2 education system and requested that teaching experience, qualifications and years of service be considered during the recruitment process.

The delegation also called for the implementation of minimum pay scales, adherence to the principle of equal pay for equal work and the formulation of a comprehensive policy for the regularisation of long-serving employees.

After hearing their concerns, Mr. Jagan said educators and staff members who had devoted years of service to the sector deserved fair treatment and adequate recognition. He assured the delegation that the YSRCP would continue to raise the issue before the government and press for an early resolution of their demands.
