The promoter of the Oasis reunion tour has secured an events licence for Knebworth House, fuelling rumours that the Gallagher brothers could be plotting a return to the Hertfordshire venue.

Having mended a 15-year rift, Noel and Liam Gallagher last year reunited for a worldwide tour, which proved to be one of the most in-demand of the decade.

As the 30th anniversary of Oasis’s historic, sold-out Knebworth dates approaches, it’s now been revealed that SJM Concerts has been granted a licence allowing events for up to 125,000 people, with performances permitted until 3am.

It comes after persistent rumours that Oasis will make another return. Last month, The Sun reported that the band are planning a six-night residency at Knebworth – which would break the record for the most times an act has played there – and a 12-date stint at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.

A source told the publication: “Noel and Liam always planned for the tour to have a second run.

“There were discussions about announcing [it] during the World Cup because of the connection between ‘Wonderwall’ and the Three Lions in this tournament. But they’ve settled on August.”

In 1996, a year after the release of their second studio album (What's The Story) Morning Glory, Oasis played to 250,000 people across two nights at Knebworth, with support from acts including The Charlatans, Manic Street Preachers and The Prodigy.

Some two-and-a-half million people applied for tickets for the August dates – the biggest demand for any concerts in British music history.

While Oasis’s Britpop rivals Blur effectively disbanded in 2003, the Gallaghers kept their band together until 2009, when they spectacularly split after a huge falling out backstage at a French music festival, with Noel claiming he couldn’t work with Liam “a day longer”.

Having finally patched things up, the brothers announced the long-awaited reunion in 2024. And even with controversial dynamic pricing in place, the gigs sold out in a matter of hours.

Noel later described the summer 2025 tour as “truly amazing”, saying during an interview on radio station TalkSPORT: “I’m not usually short for words, but I can’t really articulate it at the moment, to be honest.”

Reflecting on how it felt stepping onto the stage in Cardiff on the first night, he added: “I’ve done stadiums before and all that, but I don’t mind telling you, my legs turned to jelly after about halfway through the second song and I could have done with going back and taking a minute, but it’s been an amazing thing.”
