Man critical after serious assault at Rotorua lakefront

A man is in critical condition after a serious assault at the Rotorua lakefront early on Saturday morning.

Police were called to the lakefront at about 3.15am after receiving a report a man had been assaulted.

The victim was found in a critical condition when police arrived and was taken to the hospital.

Police were working to establish the full circumstances of what happened and charges were being considered.
