Audience label Amanda Knox’s show at Edinburgh Fringe ‘respectful’ to Meredith Kercher’s memory

An audience member called Amanda Knox’s controversial comedy show at Edinburgh Fringe “respectful” and “authentic” after watching the opening night on Friday, August 7.

“I thought it was really authentic – [Knox] came across as quite powerful and carried the room,” said Nigel, from London.

Knox, who was falsely imprisoned in 2009 for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher, performed her show Cartwheel following unsuccessful calls for it to be banned.

Kercher’s sister, Stephanie Kercher, had called for the show to be cancelled, claiming that it “normalises and trivialises violence against women.”

Kercher, an exchange student from the University of Leeds, was killed aged 21 in Perugia, Italy, in 2007.
