Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has recovered 165 acres of its properties, which were encroached, over the last two years.
Lands recovered from encroachment during this period are in Hancharahalli (Mandur), Huchanapalya (Dasanapura), Hirandahalli (Hoskote), Totagere (Hesaraghatta), Kengeri, Bhyrathi and Kannur, among other places, BMTC said. The corporation also said it has registered 10 cases against 40 encroachers.
BMTC said that the drive was conducted with the coordination of multiple departments and will continue under the leadership of managing director and director (security and vigilance). BMTC said officials have been told to keep an eye on any encroachments and clear them at the earliest, apart from taking up measures to prevent any future encroachments.
