Over the past ten years, following the 2014-2015 crisis, banks have doubled the number of active corporate borrowers to more than 17,000 companies.

According to Ukrinform, the National Bank of Ukraine said this on Facebook.

"According to the latest Financial Stability Report, businesses continue to have strong demand for loans despite the economic slowdown and high war-related risks. Banks are ready to meet this demand, with annual growth in the net hryvnia loan portfolio exceeding 30% for about a year now. Overall, the country is experiencing the longest period of credit growth in more than 15 years," the statement said.

According to the report, banks across all groups are actively lending, with comparable growth rates in their hryvnia loan portfolios.

Loans to the manufacturing and construction sectors are growing rapidly, while the largest recipients of new loans are the trade and agricultural sectors.

At the same time, banks are actively financing energy capacity, mostly providing long-term loans.

Meanwhile, old non-performing loans are having less impact on portfolio quality. This quality is being supported by prudent lending standards and proper borrower selection.

Looking ahead, banks surveyed on lending conditions expect demand for loans to continue increasing, particularly for the reconstruction and expansion of production capacity.

As reported, the defense industry has received more than UAH 9 billion under a government program as part of the implementation of the lending development strategy, while in May, banks signed a memorandum on financing the defense industry.
