Olivia Bond is a jewellery designer. Ahead, she shares her favourite designers, and how she follows trends to boost her existing wardrobe.
I’d describe my style as classic and elegant, but I always add a bit of tension or edge to an outfit to keep it from being boring.
The oldest thing in my wardrobe is a 1970s Hermes “Kelly” bag in burgundy leather I bought in Paris. The most recent addition is a full-length kaftan dress from The Row. I love their pieces because you can see yourself wearing them in 10 years’ time. Phoebe Philo and Prada are also favourites. Locally, I love P Johnson Femme, Beare Park and Albus Lumen.
The fashion era that is most reflective of my aesthetic is the ’90s. I love the clean lines and minimalism. If I had to dress for a red-carpet event, I would go to my friend Sophie Darling’s Galerie S Archive for a beautiful gown from the 1980s or ’90s. Versace and Yves Saint Laurent are always good.
On a plane, I only wear black clothes: an Éterne cashmere tee, jersey tracksuit pants, a P Johnson knit and Chanel ballet flats. For a first date, it would be Frame jeans, a silk top and boots.
When it comes to fragrance, I stopped wearing perfume when I was pregnant with my first child, but I put on Santa Maria Novella “Idrasol” body cream every day. It smells amazing.

Three essential items in my wardrobe are The Row “Gala” pants – I have two black pairs and one white pair and wear them almost every day, Leset “The Margo” white tees, and a silk or jersey midi skirt. I’ll wear a knee-high boot with the skirt but my MVP shoes are a pair of black Phoebe Philo “Club” slippers.
As a child, I wore a lot of pretty little dresses with smocking and sashes. I loved a frilly sock and a ballet flat. One of my earliest memories is going through my grandmother’s jewellery box. I’d tip it onto her bed and spend hours going through her amazing collection. I just loved it.
My go-to jewellery includes a diamond scallop necklace which is one of our signature pieces and the piece that launched my brand. I made it for myself and had so many requests it grew from there. Also, diamond stud earrings – because I believe wearing diamonds around your face is flattering to your skin – and a pinky ring that’s got three old-mine diamonds that represent my three children.

My worst fashion mistakes happened in my 20s when I’d purchase some fast-fashion outfit to wear once. There were a lot of fluorescent pieces. I like to think I’ve matured out of trends, but realistically they inform how I dress every day, in the silhouette I choose or how I wear the pieces I already own rather than buying something new.
On a typical working day, you’ll find me in The Row “Gala” pants and an oversized silk shirt with a great neckline to show off lots of necklaces. And there’s nothing better than a clean set of pyjamas at the end of a busy day. My favourites are the men’s-style button-up sets they give you in Japanese hotels.
On Sundays, I wear Nimble activewear, hiking boots and a raincoat for a big walk. Then I’ll change into a sweater and my beloved Balenciaga x Adidas track pants, which I don’t get much of a chance to wear during the week.
