MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon, or habagat, continue to affect parts of the Philippines, causing flooding and disrupting communities.

Habagat continues to drench Luzon. Pagasa expects the southwest monsoon to continue bringing rains, with Ilocos Sur and Benguet under red alert.

Metro Manila has experienced flooding, including parts of Quezon City, amid persistent habagat rains.

At least seven people have died in drowning and landslide incidents linked to persistent rains brought by the habagat and recent storms.

Baguio City has seen flooding, landslides and fallen trees, prompting the evacuation of 51 families as incessant rain battered the city.
