MAKHACHKALA, August 9. /TASS/. An elevator with nine people fell in Makhachkala, the administrative center of Russia’s North Caucasus region of Dagestan, wounding four people, city authorities said.
"Footage from a CCTV camera inside the elevator clearly shows that nine people were inside at the time of the accident. Only six people at a time are permitted to use the elevator," Makhachkala City Hall said in a statement.
The elevator fell to the ground from the fourth-floor level.
Meanwhile, Dagestan’s acting Health Minister Aliomar Akhmedov said the wounds of the four patients were "not life-threatening."
"The patients have been diagnosed with various injuries, and their condition is said to be moderately severe," he said.
A criminal investigation has been opened into the accident.
