Bianca de Vera, Dustin Yu not letting pressure get in the way of stardom

Bianca de Vera and Dustin Yu may have started as reality stars, but they have now fully embraced their new status as full-fledged celebrities.

Now collectively referred to as “DustBia,” de Vera and Yu are starring in an upcoming movie, “Ba’t Di Na Lang Tayo,” under Regal Entertainment. On Saturday, they had a sold-out fans day event dubbed “DustBia: Love Actually,” held at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City where they announced their new movie, slated this September.

Their newfound stardom aside, the Kapuso and Kapamilya artists are not immune from the pressures of the job, but their shared love for their craft has made things easier for the two of them.

“I think pressure is a good thing because that just means patuloy yung hunger namin. Personally naniniwala ako na when the day comes na hindi na’ko gutom, I feel that would be such a great disappointment to me, the younger version of myself who was once so hungry and was once so passionate about what she’s doing. So I want to be hungry hanggang sa makakaya ko,” said de Vera.

Yu, for his part, said he is grateful to de Vera who has become his partner is more ways than one. He said their relationship has allowed them to lean on each other, and made him comfortable enough to discuss not just how they should approach certain scenes, but also in sharing with her his thoughts about their career in general.

“Buti nalang talaga na may kasama ako ngayon sa career ko, na tumutulong sa akin na hindi muna magpahinga. Nagfo-focus kasi ni Bianca sa role namin, which is to make more projects together,” he said. “Talagang inaaral namin bawat bagay na kelangan namin matutunan. Pinag uusapan namin mga plano, mga kelangang pa naming iimprove as love team.”

De Vera agreed that their love pairing has allowed them to lean on each other. “Masaya rin ako kase this time around meron akong nakakasama, meron akong kakampi, meron akong kadamay,” she said.

Yu also acknowledged that there is a world of difference between their reality star status vis-a-vis their reality outside the PBB house.

“Di ko sure kung nakikita ng tao pero malaki yung gap. Sa reality show, masasabi ko, natural kasi. Kumbaga, dito iba na yung trabaho.Para kaming nagsimula nang Level 1 ulit kasi mas kinilala namin ang sarili namin sa trabaho.Yung una kala namin madali pero hindi pala. Marami pa kaming kelangang trabahuhin together sa industriyang ito,” he said.

Movie director Jason Paul Laxamana also had high praises for the two actors, saying that while they became known as reality TV stars as housemates at the PBB house, he witnessed their acting skills level up in every project that they worked on.

“Sa akin, cherry on top nalang yung love team… kasi yung skill talaga nila, dun pa lang excited nakong maka trabaho sila. And for them to give life to this project that I have, parang next level sa acting nila. So excited ako to be part of their journey as actors,” Laxamana said.

DustBia first showed their onscreen chemistry while at the Pinoy Big Brother house. Afterwards, they collaborated on a number of joined ABS-CBN and GMA projects, including for “Love You So Bad,” which was their entry to the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival, together with Regal.
