RAIPUR: A video purportedly showing a student of the state-run Swami Atmanand School in the state capital being assaulted has gone viral on social media, raising questions over the safety of students on the school premises and the alleged inaction of the school authorities.

According to the complaint, the student was allegedly assaulted by fellow students, who are also accused of bringing outsiders to attack him. The incident was reportedly recorded on video and uploaded on social media as a reel.

The video allegedly carries dialogues from the film Tirangaa, including the threatening line, âHum don hain, maa vakil hai, judge se setting haiâ (I am a don, my mother is a lawyer and I have connections with the judge).

The complainant further alleged that the mother of the accused student created a scene at the police station in an attempt to shield her son. Some lawyers also reportedly accompanied her in his support.

The victimâs family approached the school authorities after the incident and complained to the principal. However, they alleged that no action was taken despite the complaint.

Fearing further harassment, the victim subsequently obtained a transfer certificate (TC) from the school, according to the complaint.

Purani Basti police said they had registered bailable offences against both parties.

According to the police, the students, both of whom are in Class IX, had an argument over a disciplinary issue.

Police said the video was posted by the student who was allegedly assaulting the other student and was deleted shortly afterwards.

Cases have been registered against both parties under Sections 296, 115, 351, 327, 3 and 5 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), police said.
