According to Ukrinform, Al Jazeera reported the meeting, citing Iranian state media.

The report said that the meeting involved a detailed exchange of views on the country’s issues and challenges.

Khamenei and Pezeshkian discussed meeting the needs of the population, the ongoing conflict with the United States and prospects for ending it, as well as economic cooperation with foreign partners.

The meeting marked the beginning of Pezeshkian’s third year in office as president of the Islamic Republic.

It was the second officially confirmed meeting between Iran’s Supreme Leader and the president reported by state media. They first met in March, shortly after Khamenei assumed the position of Supreme Leader.

In another report, Al Jazeera quoted Qasem Qorayshi, commander of the Basij, Iran’s paramilitary volunteer force under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as saying that footage of Mojtaba Khamenei taking part in public events and meeting military commanders would be released soon.

Khamenei has not appeared in public since he was appointed Supreme Leader in March following the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in US-Israeli airstrikes. This led to rumors that he had been seriously injured or even killed in an airstrike.

As Ukrinform reported, US Vice President JD Vance said that the United States had made some progress in negotiations with Iran and expected free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz to be restored to pre-war levels.
