U.K. Prime Minister Andy Burnham is embarking on a nationwide tour to promote new policies aimed at reducing the cost of living, just as controversy over his prisons policy threatens to end the honeymoon he’s enjoyed since taking office.

Burnham will on Monday announce a consultation to determine whether companies should be banned from advertising misleading recommended retail prices that exaggerate discount offers. He will also bring forward plans to crack down on expensive subscriptions that are difficult to cancel, a policy his predecessor, Keir Starmer, had been due to implement in spring 2027.

Burnham is rolling out what he’s calling “everyday fixes” for smaller problems that contribute to the cost of living, part of a slew of announcements he will make as he tours the U.K. in August.
