An SFI activist accused in a case related to the attack on ED officials who were returning after conducting a search at the residence of former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan as part of a money-laundering probe against his daughter was detained at the Chennai airport, the police said on Monday (August 10, 2026).

According to the police, the detained person was identified as Adarsh, a member of the SFI Chala area committee.

The police said his involvement in the attack was revealed after they analysed visuals of the incident. By then, however, Adarsh had left for Dubai, prompting the police to issue a lookout circular.

The police said Adarsh was detained at the Chennai airport on Monday after arriving there from Dubai.

Police officials from the Thiruvananthapuram Museum police station will travel to Chennai to take custody of Adarsh, officials said.

The ED had searched Mr. Vijayan’s rented house in Thiruvananthapuram on May 27 as part of a probe into financial dealings between his daughter’s now-defunct firm Exalogic Solutions and sand mining company Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL).

According to the ED, as its officials were leaving after the search, a mob attacked the vehicles carrying them, allegedly injuring one of the drivers, a CRPF officer and a member of the search team.

The police registered a case against around 300 CPI(M), DYFI and SFI activists in connection with the incident.

Recently, the Kerala High Court granted bail to some of the arrested persons who had been in jail for several months in connection with the case.
