Apartment hotels are favored by some developers and hospitality companies in Japan, given the influx of overseas tourists and some of the perceived benefits of long-stay accommodations as an asset class.

“To actively capture surging inbound leisure demand, hotel operators have accelerated the diversification of offerings,” said Kentaro Nakamura, senior vice president at Jones Lang LaSalle’s Hotels (JLL) and Hospitality Group in Tokyo.

“Apartment hotels have been built for this kind of demand.”
