CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Rains unleashed by the enhanced southwest monsoon and cyclones Luis and Maymay have affected nearly 37,600 residents across three provinces in the Mimaropa Region. The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s Aug. 10 tally recorded 37,574 residents from 9,049 families affected in 114 barangays across Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro and Romblon. No casualties have been reported so far. Authorities carried out preemptive evacuations involving 49 families (127 individuals) from Occidental Mindoro and Romblon.
