A month into its time on the Billboard charts, Madonna’s latest album Confessions II is on the downswing. The set launched in the top spot on multiple rankings when it debuted in America earlier this summer, and it has been slowly slipping ever since.
This frame, Confessions II – a sequel to her Grammy-winning Confessions on a Dance Floor, which arrived more than two decades ago – backtracks on every tally where it appears. It even slips from No. 1 on the Top Dance Albums chart, where it had held for multiple frames. Even as Confessions II descends, one of the set’s singles rises and earns Madonna another No. 1.
Madonna Earns Another No. 1 Radio Smash
“Love Sensation” climbs one space to No. 1 on the Dance Airplay chart this week. The ranking measures the songs receiving the most plays at dance-focused radio stations throughout the United States. The tune becomes another leader for the superstar less than two months into its tenure on the roster.
Madonna Ties Ellie Goulding
“Love Sensation” becomes Madonna’s ninth No. 1 on the Dance Airplay ranking as it surges to the summit. With a new champion now included in her catalog, she ties Ellie Goulding for the fourth-most leaders in the history of the tally, and the second-most among women.

David Guetta remains far ahead of every other artist and in first place with 21 No. 1s. Calvin Harris and Rihanna follow with 19 and 12 champions, respectively.
The Chainsmokers sit two leaders ahead of both Goulding and Madonna, with 11. The Grammy-winning duo controlled the tally last frame, but now Madonna replaces the group in the peak position. The Chainsmokers’ “Echo,” a collaboration with Oaks, falls from No. 1 to No. 6 as “Love Sensation” takes over.
Madonna’s Confessions II Has Now Produced Two No. 1s
Two of Madonna’s nine No. 1 hits on the Dance Airplay chart come from Confessions II. “I Feel So Free” debuted on the roster in early May, and by the end of that month, it had added to the superstar’s growing total of champions. The original Confessions also produced multiple No. 1s on the dance radio tally.
Madonna Has Earned 20 Dance Airplay Hits
Madonna has now sent a milestone 20 tracks to the Dance Airplay tally throughout her career. A little more than half of them — 11 in total — have reached the top 10.
Only two of those top 10 hits failed to reach No. 1. “Celebration” and “Me Against the Music” with Britney Spears peaked at Nos. 4 and 9, respectively. Another collaboration, “Give Me All Your Lovin’” with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., missed the top 10 by only one rung. That single peaked at No. 11 more than a decade ago.
Madonna Charts Two Confessions II Singles
“Love Sensation” is one of two singles from Confessions II that are present on the Billboard charts, though the other one may disappear very soon. “Bring Your Love,” Madonna’s collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter, barely hangs on to the Adult Pop Airplay tally, falling to No. 39, the second-to-lowest position. At the same time, the track declines to No. 15 on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs list.
Madonna Charts Confessions II on Multiple Rankings
Confessions II appears on four Billboard rankings this week, and it declines across the board. The full-length sits at Nos. 3, 12, 16 and 112 on the Top Dance Albums, Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums charts and the Billboard 200, respectively.
Just last week, Confessions II was still running the show and comfortable at No. 1 on the Top Dance Albums tally.
Madonna’s The Immaculate Collection Returns to the Top 10
Madonna fills two spaces on the Top Dance Albums chart this week. As Confessions II falls from No. 1 to No. 3, The Immaculate Collection moves in the opposite direction. The career-spanning compilation – one of her most successful – rises from No. 12 to No. 10, returning to the loftiest tier of the dance-only roster.
