A 40-year-old man, a senior manager at a cab company, allegedly strangled his two minor daughters before attempting to end his life at a luxury hotel near Kempegowda International Airport on Monday (August 10) evening, the police said.

The deceased have been identified as Shaik Zehara, 5, and Shaik Zoya, 10. Their father, S.G. Imran, a resident of Bilal Nagar near Nagawara Main Road, was found in a critical condition and shifted to Manipal Hospital by the hotel’s security staff. The police said he is currently out of danger and undergoing treatment.

According to the police, Imran allegedly killed both his daughters and subsequently attempted to take his own life. The police recovered a note from the spot in which he allegedly referred to marital disputes with his wife and claimed that he suspected her of being in a relationship with another person.

The probe revealed that Imran and his two daughters checked into the hotel on Sunday (August 9) around 4.30 p.m. The incident came to light on Monday (August 10) when hotel staff reportedly heard a commotion from inside the room and went to check.

The two children were found dead on the bed, while Imran was found lying in the bathroom with his throat slit. A knife was reportedly recovered from the room.

The police are verifying the contents of the note and investigating the circumstances leading to the deaths. A murder case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
