Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele is set to return to cinemas in December with her latest feature film, The Four: No One Fights Alone.
The film is scheduled for a cinema release on 11 December, with FilmOne Entertainment handling its theatrical distribution. It is produced by Funke Akindele Network (FAAN TV).
Akindele, who wrote, directed and produced the film, unveiled its cast on Monday, with the project featuring Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Waje, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe and Wunmi Toriola, among others.
Other members of the ensemble include John Ekanem, Ireoluwa Olaniyan, Omotunde Adebowale David, popularly known as Lolo1, Mide Iwasokun, Kolapo Omotosho, Shoday, Ogbolor, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan, Samuel Banks and Ayomide Iwasokun.

The December release extends what has become a significant year-end cinema run for Akindele, whose last three December films have successively raised the bar at the Nigerian box office.
The Four
The Four is described as an emotionally driven drama centred on friendship, motherhood, resilience and the strength of ordinary women.
The story follows Esosa and three fiercely loyal women whose determination to secure the future of a young man they care about puts their friendship, courage, faith and loyalty to the test.
The film also explores themes of hope, sacrifice and unity, while incorporating music, fashion, language and tradition to reflect aspects of Nigeria’s cultural identity.
Unveiling the film on her X page, Akindele said the project was conceived around relationships and experiences audiences could recognise in their own lives.
“Audiences have grown with us over the years, and they expect stories that entertain while reflecting who we are.
“With The Four, we are exploring the relationships that shape us, challenge us and stay with us. I think audiences will find a part of themselves in this story,” she said.
Another box-office test
The Four arrives on the back of three successive December releases that have strengthened Ms Akindele’s position as one of Nigeria’s most commercially successful filmmakers.
A Tribe Called Judah, released in 2023, became the first Nigerian film to surpass the ₦1 billion mark and eventually ended its theatrical run with about ₦1.4 billion.
A year later, Everybody Loves Jenifa surpassed that performance, grossing about ₦1.88 billion.
Akindele raised the benchmark again with Behind The Scenes, released in December 2025, which recorded a reported gross of approximately ₦2.76 billion.
Her other commercially successful productions include Omo Ghetto: The Saga and Battle on Buka Street.
The 11 December release of The Four will test whether Akindele can sustain the box-office momentum of her recent December releases and extend a run that has repeatedly rewritten Nigerian cinema records.
