Race 1
2. Lorax put the writing on the wall with a strong first-up placing at Randwick, hitting the line from near last into third. With the extra 100m perhaps he can be a bit closer in the run. Hard to beat. 1. Threads was placed in the Black Opal earlier in the year, he may have been in need of the run when fourth behind Sequinned two weeks ago. Open to improvement. 7. Savagram took a bit of winding up in his latest trial when running into second over 1045m. Race day can be different, he’s drawn well and would be keeping him safe.How to play it: Lorax WIN.
Race 2
2. Sing Your Song showed a lot of promise on debut back in April running on from well back into second behind Moscatel at 1100m. Nothing wrong with her two trials leading in, somewhat typical for the stable, she’s drawn to have every chance first-up. 1. Wanda’s Spark is the logical horse to beat with the race fitness from her debut second at Kensington two weeks ago. Hard to run down. 4. Caloocan Beauty started in the market at her only start back in January running a fair fourth. Won both trials leading in and while drawn wide she’d be a good chance with any luck.How to play it: Sing Your Song WIN.
Race 3
1. Cheval De Bois is entitled to go close on the back of three seconds on end including a handy one in BM78 grade at Rosehill last time. Obviously rising sharply in the weights for the class drop but draws ideally for his racing style and this could be his race. 3. Sister Daae is now up to 18 starts for one win but she’s racking up the placings of late and her effort to run into third last week behind a runaway leader was sound. First try this trip and is a threat. 11. Kumbaya broke through at Wyong at a mile then consolidated with a placing at Canterbury last week just back a notch in trip. Race 4
2. Oakfield Neptune wasn’t able to be ridden to her strengths when back to 1100m in a fast race won by Sir Les at Randwick. Previous form when right on pace at this sort of distance was excellent at the provincials and good chance to bounce back. 8. Overtook had to go back from a wide barrier at Canterbury a few weeks ago and was never in the hunt. Big barrier switch for her and down in the weights as she clicks up in class. Could surprise. 4. Kakadu Sunset resumes with blinkers on first time. Showed some ability last season with a debut win and a few placings and well worth including.How to play it: Oakfield Neptune WIN.
Race 5
2. Monte Veebee rarely puts in a bad one and was a big winner first-up last preparation before measuring up in BM78 grade. Looks to have come up well, has a racing style that sees him right up on the speed and sure to be competitive. 8. Capture Me chased home Jarrito when coming off a six week break then scored as a $1.12 chance on the Illawarra Grange track where he was too good once the gap came. Sure to take beating. 10. Unstopabull tends to get back and run on and he did that when third behind Watson and Clear Proof three weeks ago. Has that inside gate where he’ll do no work and will be hitting the line strongly again.How to play it: Monte Veebee EACH-WAY.
Race 6
1. Inoue blew the starts badly at his first run for the stable but was able to overcome it and race away to a big win over this track at trip a month ago. Similar sort of race, up 3kg so won’t want to be missing the start this time. Hard to beat all things being equal. 3. Zale is racing consistently and he was run down by Inoue in that race after being on speed as usual. You know what you get with him and he can give a sight. 5. Miss Trentino is an interesting runner resuming from almost a year off the scene since winning at this track in September. Won a couple of recent trials and has the inside gate.How to play it: Inoue WIN.
Race 7
2. Anthracite showed he’s on the right track with a handy placing at Kensington first-up two weeks ago. No support for him that day but he ran well and can only be fitter. Draws okay and the extra ground appears to suit. Have to trust him but signs are promising. 3. Barking Mad measured up quite well when chasing home Funshow at Rosehill to back up a couple of wins in Victoria. Only has to hold that form to be right in the finish. 5. Forecaster likes to lead and held on well when runner-up to Champagne Hero at Kensington a couple of weeks back. If he finds the front with a bit in hand he could give a kick.How to play it: Anthracite WIN.
