BINI will not be the only Filipino act at the festival. Fellow P-pop group SB19 is also part of the 2026 lineup, performing at the Massive Stage in Osaka on Aug. 14 and the Pacific Stage in Tokyo on Aug. 15. Filipino singer-songwriter Ena Mori is also expected to perform.

Summer Sonic 2026 marks the festival’s 25th anniversary. Launched in 2000, the Japanese music festival was originally created as a large-scale event held simultaneously in Tokyo and Osaka.

For its 25th anniversary edition, Summer Sonic is expanding to three days, Aug. 14 to 16, with organizers aiming for a record 330,000 attendees across the festival.

Among the festival’s biggest names this year are The Strokes, L’Arc-en-Ciel, Ado, Jamiroquai, Jennie, David Byrne, FKA twigs, Alex Warren, Steve Lacy, Suede, Keshi, LE SSERAFIM, Pentatonix, and BABYMETAL.

BINI’s inclusion in the Japan-based festival comes months after the group made history as the first Filipino act to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California.

The milestone was later recognized by the Philippine Senate, which unanimously adopted a resolution commending BINI for becoming the first Filipino act to perform at Coachella. The House of Representatives likewise adopted a resolution honoring the group.

The group released its six-track EP “Signals” on the same day as its Coachella debut. “Signals” also serves as the namesake of BINI’s ongoing world tour. The tour includes stops across the United States, Canada, Europe, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Beyond touring, BINI most recently lent its voice to DreamWorks’ upcoming animated film “Forgotten Island.” The group released “A Parallel World,” its song for the film, on July 23.
