Sanman 103 to feature former world title challengers

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Former world title challengers Jeo Santisima and Jayson Mama will headline the stacked fight card of Sanman 103, set for August 23 at Villa Kristen Resort and Hotel in General Santos City.

Sanman Boxing formally announced the card earlier this week, with Sanman 103 event shaping up as one of the stable’s biggest fight cards of the year.

Also seeing action are Esneth Domingo, Japanese boxer Tom Mizokoshi, and rising Sanman prospects Jerome Cometa and Cholo Alvarez.

Sanman Stable boxers seek bounce back

Santisima and Domingo, who train under the ZIP Sanman Boxing Stable in Banawa, Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, are both looking to bounce back from recent defeats.

Santisima, a veteran who challenged Mexican star Emanuel Navarrete for the WBO world super bantamweight title, is coming off a loss to Russia’s Mikhail Grigoryan last April in Serpukhov, Russia. It was his second straight defeat after losing to Angelo Pena in Switzerland last December.

Despite the setbacks, Santisima remains one of the Philippines’ more experienced fighters, carrying a 26–10 record with 22 knockouts.

Mama is also seeking redemption after suffering a technical knockout loss to Mexico’s Angel Ayala Lardizabal last May in Mexico City. The former world title challenger owns a 21–4–1 record with 10 knockouts.

Domingo, meanwhile, is coming off a unanimous decision loss to American Abraham Perez in his US debut last April in New Mexico. The Cebuano also fought Miel Fajardo in an IBF world flyweight title eliminator last year.

Despite his recent setback, Domingo remains a dangerous contender with a 22–5 record and 14 knockouts.

Mizokoshi will also look to snap a two-fight losing skid. The Japanese boxer dropped fights in Thailand and Japan last year, including a fifth-round knockout loss to former world champion John Riel Casimero last December in Aichi, Japan. Mizokoshi enters the bout with an 11–6–2 record and five knockouts.

Cometa, who owns a 4–1 record with one knockout, is likewise coming off a defeat. He lost to Cebuano Sherwin Dacullo, the Philippine Youth minimumweight champion from Noy Pacing Flores (NPF) Boxing Academy, last April in General Santos City.

Alvarez is the lone undefeated fighter currently listed on the card. The rising prospect boasts a perfect 6–0 record with four knockouts.

Sanman Boxing is expected to announce the opponents for the featured fighters in the coming days.
