Pixel 11 Pro Fold knows what foldable shoppers want: Thinner, lighter, better
Aug 12, 2026 — 10:00 AM ET
- Google’s Pixel 11 Pro Fold is finally official, with a new Tensor G6 chip and brighter-than-ever screen.
- Prices start $100 higher than last year’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
- While Google gives the phone a smaller battery, efficiency improvements may balance the change out.
It is once again Made by Google time, and a little bit later today we are going to see Google’s star-packed launch event get underway. But ahead of that time in the spotlight, Google’s new Pixel phones are already going official, including the company’s latest foldable, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold.
While all the Pixel handsets are scoring some notable upgrades this year, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold really has a lot to show off, from a slimmed down, yet more durable build, to Google’s brightest screens on a foldable yet. Let’s check out exactly what Google has to offer with its latest foldable generation:
Pixel 11 Pro Fold: Pricing and availability
- Pixel 11 Pro Fold (256GB): $1,899
- Pixel 11 Pro Fold (512GB): $2,019
- Pixel 11 Pro Fold (1TB): $2,249
Pre-orders for all the new Pixel 11 models, including the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, are getting started today — no extra wait for the foldable this time! Retail availability is set to commence in another week, on August 20.
Compared to last year, prices are higher across the board — ain’t 2026 grand? No matter which storage configuration you go with, you’ll be paying $100 more than you would have for the comparable Pixel 10 Pro Fold handset at launch. Shoppers have the choice between Obsidian and Olive colorways.
At least Google is still dangling the carrot of a Google AI freebie to help cushion that increase a little. New owners of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold will be eligible for six free months of Google AI Pro, including Google Health Premium and 5TB Google One cloud storage.

Design and durability
Google’s not trying any big new design departure like Samsung did with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 this year, and returns with a Pixel 11 Pro Fold that is very much cut from the same cloth as its predecessor. That said, Google’s making improvements practically everywhere we look, and that starts with the foldable’s body.
This year’s Pro Fold measures in a little under 1mm thinner than the 2025 edition, and Google’s managed to reduce weight by almost 10%. And lest you think that those changes might make the Pixel 11 Pro Fold less robust than its forebear, Google claims that the new hardware is three times more durable than the 10 Pro Fold.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is Google's thinnest foldable to date.
In particular, Google points to the improvements it’s made to the phone’s hinge. Beyond just making it thinner, the company has worked to minimize damage to the inner screen from drops that impact the hinge.
Google’s also going hard on materials to help beef up the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Up front, that means ceramic glass for the phone’s outer screen. And the trend continues around back, with a glass-fiber composite construction that Google swears is nearly impervious to cracking. Once again, the foldable offers IP68 water resistance.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold returns with the same basic camera layout as before — a choice that Google says helps contribute to the phone’s slimness, spreading out the camera hardware across two bars. This is also where we find arguably the most visible indicator of this year’s new hardware: the HiLight colored notification LED replacing the old flash. That can be used to notify you of messages from your contacts, with specific colors assigned to each. There’s even compatibility with WhatsApp.
Displays
If there’s one big upgrade that’s easy to point to and make a case for why you should think about upgrading your foldable, it’s got to be the new, extra-bright screen on the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Google’s cranked brightness up by some 20% this time around, making all this expansive screen real estate just that much more usable — especially outside. The exterior screen gets a Super Actua upgrade this year, joining the Super Actua Flex display within.
An extra-bright screen helps this year's Pro Fold stay usable in direct sunlight.
Despite the phone itself coming in slimmer this year, Google’s actually made the interior screen’s ultra-thin glass a little bit thicker with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, and combined with the use of dual layers of ultra-impact films, that should contribute to a more durable display.
Cameras
We don’t always get major camera upgrades with the latest generation of every phone, but Google throws us a bone with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold — at least, a small one. Admittedly, much of the camera hardware here is following in the footsteps of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and users can expect the same telephoto, ultrawide, and selfie cams. But there is a new main camera here — a 48MP wide-angle solution — and one that Google says delivers 56% better light sensitivity than last year’s.
Super Zoom gets an upgrade, hitting the 30x mark we saw pop up in Pixel 11 leaks. More and more, it looks like some of the most exciting new Pixel camera features are arriving via software.
That includes Magic Capture this year, which basically turns your phone into an automated photographer. Just tell it to capture the scene, and Magic Capture chooses the best moments to grab pics, while you can focus on actually being engaged and present. We also get Camera Looks, with customizable filters to dial in the vibe you’re looking for from your shots, including the ability to emulate classic film grain.
Performance and battery life
Google’s debuting its latest processor with the Pixel 11 series, equipping all these phones with the Tensor G6. That includes an upgraded TPU optimized to get the most out of on-device models like Gemini Nano, delivering 50% more compute compared to the G5. There’s also a new Titan M3 coprocessor this generation, helping keep the Pixel 11 Pro Fold secure on boot against even quantum-based attacks. And Google’s sticking with 16GB of RAM for all your multitasking needs.
Are you upgrading to the Pixel 11 Pro Fold?
OK, ready for a little uncomfortable news? The Pixel 11 Pro Fold’s battery is shrinking. While the 10 Pro Fold was equipped with 5,015mAh of capacity, the 11 Pro Fold drops that to just 4,750mAh. That said, this may be far from the end of the world, as Google claims that the Tensor G6 enjoys 20% better battery efficiency than the G5. Unlike Samsung’s new foldables with silicon-carbon components, Google’s sticking with regular lithium-ion chemistry, but still says you should look forward to over 24 hours of operation on a charge.
Despite a smaller battery, Google promises a solid day on a charge.
In addition to speedy wired charging, reaching 50% after just half an hour with a 45W charger, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold now supports full speed 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging. And Google’s back with a whole range of Pixelsnap accessories designed to take advantage of that capability.
Software and updates
As you’d only expect, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold arrives running Google’s latest Android 17 software. Its first big update is also already just around the corner, and we’ve been watching the September Feature Drop taking shape in QPR1 betas.
The Pixel 11 phones, including the 11 Pro Fold, are going to be putting Gemini Intelligence front and center. Android users have been looking forward to these big upgrades for months, with many previewed back at I/O in May. Remember that impressive-sounding “Rambler” mode for Gboard, making sense out of your word salad? Pixel 11 users will be among the first to get a chance to try it out. You can also look forward to new Magic Cue-like proactive suggestions surfacing useful content from other apps when you need it.
Translate is getting a whole lot of attention, including working with Circle to Search in Pixel Camera, Live Translate with real-time audio dubbing, and even the ability to understand sign language.
Google is sticking with its current support policy, guaranteeing seven years of both platform updates and security patches for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. All that means not just a whole lot of software features to check out the day you bring the foldable home, but also staying at the forefront of Google’s latest additions for a whole lot longer to come.
