Jamie Lee Curtis is pleading for fans to “not waste clicks” after the internet latched onto her recent remarks about her “awful” experience filming New Girl.

Earlier this week, the Freaky Friday star, 67, made headlines for admitting that she had “no fun” appearing on the beloved sitcom, despite finding it to be a “very funny” show.

Responding to the uproar about her comments, Curtis addressed it head-on Tuesday in an Instagram post, alongside a behind-the-scenes photo of her, Zooey Deschanel and the late Rob Reiner. Curtis starred sporadically throughout the seven-season series as Joan Day opposite Reiner as the divorced parents of Deschanel’s character Jess.

“HEY INTERNET! HI! As if we don’t have bigger issues facing Americans and the world at large and natural disasters and unnatural behaviors of despots than to be concerned about a flip comment picked up at a press moment promoting NEWLYWEDS @NBC,” she wrote in the caption.

Curtis had been speaking at NBCUniversal’s Summer Backlot Experience when she reflected on her time on New Girl, saying: “I did a single camera [comedy], which, I mean — great show, New Girl, very funny — it’s a good show, but doing it is just like doing a movie.

“You know, you’ve got a camera crew, and nobody laughs. It’s silent, and it’s awful. For me, awful. Single-camera comedies, for me, not fun.”

She clarified on Instagram that her intention was to compare her preference for working on Newlyweds, a new multi-camera sitcom she co-created, which is filmed in front of a live studio audience, over doing a “single-camera comedy like New Girl.”

Curtis explained that performing in front of a studio audience is “almost like doing a play where you get immediate feedback.” Whereas with New Girl, “there’s absolutely no feedback, as you’re trying to do comedy in a vacuum, like a comedy feature,” she noted.

“I said it wasn’t my favorite experience although the show itself is fantastic and the team that made it are talented,” she clarifed in her post, “and that Zooey Deschanel is an absolute gem of a human and said I got to play with my friend, Rob Reiner, as exes and that was sweet and lovely and so please, let’s not waste clicks and comments and just move on to WAY more important things. That will be all.”

The Oscar-winning actor is currently promoting her forthcoming series Newlyweds, which she described as being about “a late in life love and people finding each other and marrying on a whim.” It stars real-life couple Téa Leoni and Tim Daly.

Newlyweds premieres Friday, October 23 at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
