SEOUL, Aug. 13 (Yonhap) -- LG Energy Solution Ltd., South Korea's leading battery maker, said Thursday that the average utilization rate of its domestic and overseas production facilities rebounded in the first half of the year from a year earlier.

The company's production capacity was valued at 27.96 trillion won (US$19.75 billion) during the January-June period, while its average utilization rate stood at 52.8 percent, according to a regulatory filing.

The rate rose 5.2 percentage points from the 47.6 percent average for all of last year, marking a rebound after four consecutive years of decline.

LG Energy Solution's average production facility utilization rate fell from 73.6 percent in 2022 to 69.3 percent in 2023, 57.8 percent in 2024 and 47.6 percent in 2025.

The company also reported that its research and development (R&D) spending totaled 725.9 billion won in the first half, the highest amount ever recorded.
