PMI Bohol brings boxing action to Loon for ‘Kumong Bol-Anon 26’ opener

CEBU CITY, Philippines — PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions is bringing its latest boxing spectacle to the Municipality of Loon on Sept. 9, staging a four-bout fight card that will serve as the opening salvo to the much-anticipated “Kumong Bol-Anon 26” in Bohol.

The Loon card will precede the main event on Sept. 12 at the Bohol Wisdom School Gymnasium in Tagbilaran City, where former world champion Sivenathi Nontshinga of South Africa will face PMI Bohol Boxing Stable banner boxer Regie “Filipino Phenom” Suganob in a highly anticipated world title eliminator.

While none of the Loon bouts will have a title at stake, the card is expected to provide plenty of action as PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions brings professional boxing to the town as part of its fiesta celebration.

Leading the Sept. 9 card is the comeback of former world title challenger Gerwin “Gladiator” Asilo (12–2, 5 KOs), who returns to action after suffering a loss to Keita Nakayama in Japan last April.

Asilo will face battle-tested Leyte veteran Renoel Pael (24–18–2, 12 KOs) in an eight-round main event at 118 pounds as he looks to bounce back and rebuild his momentum.

Unbeaten featherweight Jericho Acaylar (4–0, 2 KOs) will also see action against Manila’s Alex De Quiroz (5–2–1, 2 KOs) in what will be Acaylar’s third professional fight this year.

The other bouts pit Sugarey Leonard Pores (9–2, 6 KOs) against Davao del Sur’s Jelo Bacalso (6–13–2, 4 KOs), while newcomer Dryxz Russel Sardalla (1–0, 1 KO) looks to make it two straight wins as a professional against Anthony Galan (3–1–2, 2 KOs) in the curtain-raiser.

The Loon card is designed to build excitement for the bigger Sept. 12 event, which will feature four bouts and carry the biggest stakes of the two-day boxing showcase.

Suganob, ranked No. 1 by both the IBF and WBO at junior flyweight, will face Nontshinga in a rematch of their 2023 world title fight in South Africa.

The winner will earn the right to challenge reigning IBF junior flyweight champion Thanongsak Simsri of Thailand.

Suganob enters the rematch with an 18–1 record and seven knockouts, riding a five-fight winning streak that included his capture of the WBO Global junior flyweight title in 2023.

Nontshinga, meanwhile, owns a 14–2 record with 11 knockouts and will make his first appearance in the Philippines.
