A 45-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his nephew following a family dispute at Kulathumon Ambedkar Unnathi here late on Wednesday.The deceased has been identified as Anil, a resident of Chengara.

His nephew, Sudheesh, 27, has been taken into custody by the police. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. and was triggered by a dispute over the family house, the police said.

Anil used to stay at a house adjacent to the family home at Kulathumon whenever he visited the area. However, his stay at the house had reportedly led to disagreements between him and Sudheesh, who lives with his wife at a rented house at Kollanpadi. The two had another argument over the issue on Wednesday, which escalated into a physical altercation. In a fit of rage, Sudheesh brutally kicked Anil and kept doing so even after he fell to the ground.

Anil was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
