The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced the temporary closure of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Metro Station (Vidhana Soudha) on Saturday (August 15), in view of the Independence Day ‘Freedom Habba’ celebrations at Vidhana Soudha.

According to a media release issued by BMRCL, the station will remain closed for both entry and exit from 10 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. as part of crowd management and public safety measures. Metro trains, however, will continue to operate on the route and pass through the station without stopping.

BMRCL said that the entry into the station will be permitted from 9.30 p.m. to facilitate the movement of passengers after the event. However, exit from the station will continue to remain restricted until 10 p.m.

To handle the expected increase in passenger traffic after the celebrations, BMRCL said that additional Metro services would be operated, if required.

Passengers travelling during the closure period have been advised to use Cubbon Park Metro Station or Sir M. Visvesvaraya Metro Station, Central College, as alternative stations.

The temporary arrangements have been made following directions from the Commissioner, Bengaluru Central City Corporation.
