Sweden sat well outside the path of totality, but the eclipse still put on a striking show as it unfolded low over the western horizon in the early evening.

In Stockholm, readers watched around 80 percent of the sun swallowed by the Moon just before 8pm, the low evening light giving the crescent sun an especially dramatic look as it hung close to the treeline. Further south, in Malmö, coverage crept even higher.

With the sun so low in the sky, plenty of you found creative viewing spots — rooftops, piers, open fields — to get a clear run at the horizon. Here's a selection of what our Swedish readers sent in.

Many were disappointed by the amount of molnförmörkelse (cloud cover) during the eclipse. It made for a beautiful scene nonetheless.
