The Dharwad district unit of the All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) and the Job Aspirants’ Struggle Committee have urged the Education Minister and the Commissioner of Public Instruction to extend the age limit by five years for the recruitment of 15,000 teachers and include mathematics teachers in the ongoing recruitment of high school teachers.

A delegation of the two organisations submitted a memorandum in this regard to Additional Deputy Commissioner Geeta C.D. The delegation comprised AIDYO district president Bhavanishankar S. Gowda, Job Aspirants’ Struggle Committee district convener Veeresh Naregal, Yallappa Dore, Sharanu Patil, Hanumagowda, Roma Guthedar, Nandini Suryavamshi, Shabana Begum and Rajeshwari Salagar.

In the memorandum, AIDYO welcomed the notification issued by the Department of Public Instruction for the recruitment of 15,000 teachers, stating that it came after a prolonged campaign by young job aspirants.

The organisation, however, pointed out that the State government, following sustained protests, had issued a Gazette notification on January 29, 2026 (Government Order No. CRASUI 262 SENENI 2025, Bengaluru, dated January 29, 2026), granting a five-year relaxation in the upper age limit for all direct recruitments conducted by the State government up to December 31.

The memorandum said the age relaxation had not been incorporated into the notification for the recruitment of 15,000 teachers.

The organisations also objected to the recruitment of more than 4,000 high school teachers, being conducted after a gap of 11 years, on the grounds that mathematics teachers had not been included in the notification.

They said the exclusion would cause hardship to candidates who had completed graduation and BEd with mathematics as a subject and had been waiting for an opportunity to be appointed as high school teachers.
