Elections to the students’ union of the University of Calicut, which has affiliated colleges in five districts in the State, will be held on Friday (August 14, 2026).

A release said on Thursday (August 13, 2026) that the timing of the elections had been changed from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The counting of votes would begin at 2 p.m. Though the elections were earlier scheduled for August 7, they were later postponed to August 14.

According to sources, over 500 university union councillors elected from the affiliated colleges will exercise their voting rights to choose the five university union functionaries such as chairperson, vice-chairperson (lady), vice-chairperson, secretary, and joint secretary, and executive committee members for Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur and Wayanad districts.

While the Students’ Federation of India has put up candidates for all the posts, the Kerala Students’ Union and the Muslim Students’ Federation are contesting as the United Democratic Students’ Front alliance.
