A female student who was admitted for treatment after being found attempting to end her life breathed her last at KMCRI Hospital in Hubballi on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Megha Hanumanth Gubbannavar, 20, a D.Ed. student and resident of Kotabagi village in Dharwad taluk.

According to the police complaint, Megha was reportedly upset with her parents for scolding her for excessive use of her mobile phone. On Wednesday at 3.30 p.m., she reportedly consumed poison intending to end her life. She was immediately rushed to the District Civil Hospital in Dharwad and subsequently to KMCRI Hospital in Hubballi as her condition was serious. She breathed her last on Thursday.
