Police on Thursday (August 13) identified a suspect in connection with the murder of a 58-year-old woman at her residence at Papanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore.
Shanthi, a resident of Karuppathal Thottam, was found dead at her house late on Wednesday. Police said she had been residing with her son at the house and working as a domestic help. The two of them left for work as usual on Wednesday morning. When the son returned home from work late on Wednesday, he found the woman dead with injuries on head.
On information, the Race Course police rushed to the spot, and Commissioner of Police N. Kannan formed special teams for investigation.
Mr. Kannan told The Hindu on Thursday that a single person is suspected to have been involved in the murder. “The police have zeroed in on the suspect. The person is believed to have taken away random things from the house. The motive of the murder will be known after questioning him” he said.
Meanwhile, the body was handed over to her son and relatives after a post-mortem examination on Thursday.
