A baby girl has been born in the driveway of a police station after her mother went into labour on the way to hospital.

Officers were returning to Browns Plains Police Station when a man in a red hatchback flagged them down in the driveway.

He had been taking his 22-year-old pregnant partner to Logan Hospital, but realised they were not likely to make it before the baby was born.

Constable Jenna Ziviani helped deliver the child, under the guidance of an ambulance dispatcher over the phone.

“In 27 years, this is the first time this has happened,” one policewoman can be heard saying.

Paramedics arrived shortly after and took the woman and her newborn daughter to hospital.

Body camera footage was shared with media outlets by Queensland police on Friday morning.
