Rains to prevail across Luzon Friday

MANILA, Philippines – Most of Luzon will still experience rains due to the prevailing southwest monsoon or ‘habagat’, the weather bureau said on Friday.

Zambales and Bataan will experience occasional rains.

Scattered rains and thunderstorms are forecast across Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, the rest of Central Luzon, and Antique.

Moderate to heavy rains in the aforementioned areas could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by habagat and localized thunderstorms.

The northern and western sections of Luzon will continue experiencing moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the low pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours. (PNA)
