NEW YORK, August 14. /TASS/. Three executions were carried out in the United States in a single day for the first time in 16 years.

Jeremy Williams was put to death in the state of Alabama for the 2021 rape and murder of a 5-year-old girl. Oklahoma executed Carlos Cuesta-Rodriguez for the 2003 murder of his girlfriend. Tennessee put Anthony Darrell Hines to death for the 1985 murder of a hotel maid.

According to the Associated Press, "the executions come as a small number of states, including the three with scheduled lethal injections Thursday, drive execution numbers in the United States." Eleven American states executed a total of 47 people in 2025, the highest number since 2009.
