The International Youth Day event observed at the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), the TTD-run super speciality hospital, saw speakers speak on the importance of spiritual well-being in students to let them scale great heights.

The event was formally inaugurated by Sri Shakti Peetham’s pontiff Ramyananda Bharathi Swamini along with SVIMS Director and Vice-Chancellor R.V. Kumar at the campus on Thursday (August 13, 2026).

In her address, the pontiff spoke of the importance of temple visits in keeping negative thoughts at bay, meditation to improve attention, and the chanting of mantras to improve vocal and mental clarity.

“In the era of growing technology, students are suffering from lack of concentration and internal disturbance,” she said.

Mr. Kumar also explained the science behind chanting mantras and spoke of the importance of learning under the ancient mentor-mentee, or Gurukul, system.

The pontiff later presented prizes to the winners of the poster presentation, essay writing, debate and quiz competitions.

Dean Alok Sachan, Registrar Aparna R. Bitla, Medical Superintendent Ram, and SPMCW Principal Umamaheswara Rao were among those present.
