Mindanao fashion took the spotlight at Southern Weave 2026, a Kadayawan fashion showcase that brought together young designers from the region and put Mindanao’s creativity, heritage and craftsmanship front and center.

Held on Aug. 14 at The Atrium, Expansion Wing of SM City Davao, the showcase was presented in partnership with the Junior Fashion Designers of Mindanao, featuring the work of 10 promising young designers: Arthur Andrade, Milpe Blass Palmares, Jane Christin Ponggo, Jena May Quitoga, Bien Cedric Catubig, Jason Bon Gilles, Sittie Anwar, Roland Boyles, Assi Castanaga and Alfredo Antipolo.

The showcase highlighted how the next generation of Mindanao designers is bringing their own creative perspective to fashion while drawing from the region’s rich cultural identity.

With Kadayawan as its backdrop, Southern Weave 2026 celebrated the connection between fashion and culture, giving young Filipino designers from Mindanao a platform to present their work and creative voices.

The event also underscored the growing presence of Mindanao’s young creatives in the local fashion scene, showcasing talent from the South during one of Davao’s biggest cultural celebrations.

For these rising designers, the runway became more than a place to showcase clothes—it became a space to celebrate where they come from and what they can create.

Mindanao fashion is having its moment, and this new generation is just getting started.
