The man who allegedly posed as a Rapido driver and approached Hyderabad content creator Siddeshwari Sugandh near Charminar, Hyderabad, has been sentenced to two days’ simple imprisonment by a city court.
Mirza Ahmed Baig alias Irfan (27) of Kishan Bagh, was convicted by the I Special Judicial Magistrate, Hyderabad, on Friday (August 13, 2026). He was also fined ₹250.
The case was registered at Charminar Police Station after Siddeshwari alleged that the man approached her around 9 p.m. and offered to drop her, claiming to be a Rapido driver despite there being no booking.
She became suspicious when she noticed that the scooter had no registration number displayed and the man could not produce a Rapido driver ID. When asked to show his credentials, he allegedly began downloading the Rapido app on his phone.
Siddeshwari later shared a video of the encounter on Instagram, saying she was disturbed by the confidence with which the man approached a woman at night and attempted to gain her trust by using the Rapido name.
The case was registered under Sections 70(C) and 21(B) of the City Police Act, Section 292 of the BNS and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The court delivered its judgment on Friday, sentencing Baig to two days’ simple imprisonment and imposing a ₹250 fine.
