Minister for Labour, Animal Husbandry, and Women and Child Development, Bindu Krishna, will hoist the national flag at the district-level Independence Day celebrations at Captain Vikram Ground in West Hill in Kozhikode city on Saturday (August 15).

Officials said preparations across Kozhikode district were now complete for the event. The official proceedings will commence at 8.40 a.m. when the platoons assemble at the parade baseline. The Parade Commander will take charge at 8.45 a.m., followed by the arrival of the District Police Chief (Kozhikode City) at 8:50 a.m. to receive the parade salute.

At 8.53 a.m., the Deputy Inspector General of Police and the District Police Chief (Kozhikode Rural) will arrive, followed by the District Collector at 8.55 a.m.

Ms. Krishna is scheduled to arrive at 8:58 a.m., where she will be formally received by the District Collector along with the City and Rural Police Chiefs. The parade will then present a general salute before the Minister hoists the national flag at 9 a.m.

A total of 22 platoons will take part in the parade, featuring personnel from the police, Excise, Fire and Rescue Services, Forest department, National Cadet Corps, Scouts and Guides, and Student Police Cadets.

At 9.02 a.m., accompanied by the Parade Commander, the Minister will inspect the parade. Following her official Independence Day address, Ms. Krishna will present awards to the best-performing platoons.

The ceremonial parade will conclude with the National Anthem, paving the way for a series of cultural programmes performed by local school students.
