Ahead of the annual Brahmotsavams, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is intensifying its sanitation preparedness across the hill shrine, with Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary directing officials and agencies to raise the bar on cleanliness and waste management operations.
At a review meeting held in Tirumala on Friday, Mr. Chowdary undertook a detailed assessment of the sanitation arrangements and emphasised stringent quality standards, timely procurement of essential materials and deployment of modern equipment to preserve the sanctity and pristine environment of the temple town during the festival.
The TTD is also contemplating introducing ‘Nandakam’, a complaint-management application designed to provide real-time visibility of cleanliness-related issues. The proposed platform will facilitate instant reporting from the field, automatically escalate complaints to the personnel concerned and enable officials to monitor the progress of remedial action. The application is expected to be rolled out next month.
The sanitation net will encompass the ghat roads, Srivari steps, Alipiri footpath and adjoining areas, with agencies being tasked with strengthening waste-management measures across these high-footfall stretches.
Mr. Chowdary also commended the contribution of volunteer groups, including ‘Mana Ooru - Man Gudi’ and welcomed their continued engagement in cleanliness initiatives beyond the immediate temple precincts. Such community participation, he observed, was already making a discernible difference to pilgrims’ feedback on sanitation.
Appealing for greater public participation, the Additional EO urged pilgrims to treat cleanliness as a shared responsibility and refrain from throwing waste from vehicles or using single-use plastics within the shrine area. He also sought devotees’ cooperation with sanitation personnel who work round the clock to maintain the cleanliness of the hill town.
Deputy EO (Health) Somanarayana, Sanitation Department officials, representatives of agencies and other officers attended the meeting.
