Sydney Sweeney has spent the past several years building a surprisingly varied Hollywood résumé.

While Euphoria made her a household name as Cassie Howard, Sweeney has increasingly moved between genres and radically different characters. In 2025 alone, Sweeney played a champion boxer in Christy, a live-in housemaid who discovers her wealthy employers are hiding some disturbing secrets in The Housemaid, and a troubled daughter pulled into a dangerous family crisis in Echo Valley.

She even stepped behind the camera as a producer and actor on 2024’s Immaculate, starring as a young American nun who discovers something horrifying inside an isolated Italian convent.

As Sweeney continues to add high-profile projects to her résumé, one of her lesser-known thrillers has unexpectedly found a new audience on streaming.

The Voyeurs, a 2021 erotic thriller starring Sweeney, is now enjoying a surprising resurgence on HBO Max — the film has climbed to No. 4 on the platform's worldwide movie chart, according to FlixPatrol. Having originally debuted on Prime Video in September 2021, the thriller is finding a fresh audience on HBO Max nearly five years later.

What is The Voyeurs about?

The Voyeurs follows Pippa (Sweeney) and Thomas (Justice Smith), a young couple who move into their dream apartment in Montreal. Soon after settling in, they realize their windows give them a remarkably clear view into the apartment across the street — including the intimate lives of their neighbors.

Those neighbors are Seb (Ben Hardy), a successful photographer, and Julia (Natasha Liu Bordizzo). At first, Pippa and Thomas' spying is little more than a guilty curiosity, but Pippa becomes increasingly fascinated by the couple. When she believes she has discovered that Seb is being unfaithful, watching from afar is no longer enough, and she begins crossing boundaries that bring her directly into their lives.

From there, The Voyeurs develops into a twist-heavy erotic thriller about obsession, temptation and the dangers of making assumptions about your neighbors.

The film received a mixed response from critics upon release and currently holds a 45% score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, Sweeney's performance earned some praise, and the movie has developed a reputation for its increasingly bold twists.

                    **Sweeney has plenty of projects in the works**

Sweeney doesn't have another movie arriving immediately, but her upcoming slate is anything but quiet. She is set to return as Millie in The Housemaid's Secret, the sequel to The Housemaid, which is currently scheduled for Dec. 17, 2027.

Before then, Sweeney has several other projects in various stages of development. She's starring alongside Noah Centineo in Netflix and Legendary's live-action Gundam movie and is attached to play Undine Spragg in an adaptation of Edith Wharton's The Custom of the Country. She'll also portray Hollywood legend Kim Novak opposite David Jonsson, who plays Sammy Davis Jr., in Scandalous!, the feature directorial debut of her Euphoria co-star Colman Domingo.

While it may be a little while before Sweeney's next movie arrives, audiences clearly aren't waiting around for something new — they're turning one of her older thrillers into a streaming hit instead.
