The Basava Marga Award will be presented to B.S. Sudhakar, an officer of the Bengaluru Central Crime Branch (CCB), as part of the 14th death anniversary programme of noted Sharana writer Linganna Satyampete, at Kannada Bhavan in Kalaburagi on July 25.

On July 23, Shivaranjan Satyampete, president of the Sharana Marga Charitable Trust, informed that Appana Odanata, a book authored by advocate Santosh Satyampete on his association with his father, Linganna Satyampete, would also be released on the occasion.

“Mahanta swamiji of Kalyan ashram, Mudgal, will grace the programme. Vilasavati Khooba, president of the Basava Samiti, will inaugurate the event. Former minister and trade union leader S.K. Kanta will present the Basava Marga Award, which carries a cash prize of ₹5,000 and a memento. The book will be released by B.R. Patil, MLA, while Ashok Doddamani, guest lecturer in the Department of Journalism at Gulbarga University, will review it,” he said.

Among those expected to attend as chief guests are Channareddy Patil, founder-president of the Sarvajna Education Society, Siddharam Honkal, member of the Sahitya Akademi, Ravindra Shahabadi, district president of the Karnataka State Science and Research Committee, and Vijaykumar Patil Tegalatippi, president of the Kalaburagi district unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat.

Vishwaradhya Satyampete, president of the Basava Marga Pratishthana, will preside over the function.
