Colon snatchers used ebikes as getaway; cops nabbed them in Tejero

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Two allegedly notorious snatchers were apprehended in different areas of Barangay Tejero, Cebu City, on Friday evening, Aug. 14, 2026, during the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations of the Waterfront police Station of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

The first suspect, alias Johny, 19, a resident of Sitio San Juan, Barangay Ermita, was arrested in Sitio Back Blessed, Barangay Tejero.

Meanwhile, a few minutes after Johny’s arrest, police apprehended alias Kent, 19, a resident of Sitio Castilaan, Ermita. They arrested him in Sitio Sampaguita, Tejero.

Gun and drugs

They confiscated from alias Johny a caliber .38 revolver with two rounds of ammunition and a small sachet of alleged shabu.

Authorities also confiscated two small sachets of alleged shabu and a 5-6-inch knife.

According to Police Capt. Raymart Rabanes, chief of the Waterfront Police Station, the two were members of a group that was involved in snatching and robbery.

Authorities, Rabanes said, had been looking for them for some time.

Ebike for escape

Allegedly, their group would ride an ebike as their getaway vehicle.

They were operating in the area near Colon Street, Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, and Basilica Minore del Santo Niño.

The two, in the meantime, are in the custody of Waterfront Police Station and will face appropriate charges.
