Minister of Tourism and Culture Kandula Durgesh on Saturday (August 15, 2026) claimed that infrastructure projects worth ₹2,643 crore have been proposed for Godavari Pushkarams 2027 in the Godavari region. The projects include the development of ghats along the banks of the Godavari River, tourist amenities, and other facilities.

Addressing the gathering during the 80th Independence Day celebrations on the Arts College campus in Rajamahendravaram, Mr. Durgesh said that the Akhanda Godavari project works are in progress with ₹94.44 crore released by the Ministry of Tourism. Beautification of Havelock bridge and Pushkar Ghat in Rajamahendravaram city are part of the Akhanda Godavari project.

Talking about the bamboo processing unit set up at Devarapalli, the Minister stated that at least 10,000 tribal people would be guaranteed a livelihood through Aranya, an initiative for the collection of bamboo and bamboo processing.

Meanwhile, Minister of Labour V. Subhash hoisted the national flag at Amalapuram in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, and announced that the cocoa crop would be extended to an additional 1,000 acres in the district.

In Rampachodavaram, Polavaram District Collector K. Dinesh Kumar hoisted the national flag. Addressing the gathering, the Collector announced that the construction of 1,162 houses has been completed for affected families of Polavaram irrigation project. As many as 150 families have been given permission for fishing in river Godavari in the Polavaram district, he added.
